The market is changing.  For over a year every news outlet has been telling us that the price of houses is dropping, and will continue to drop for at least the next year.  Maybe so, maybe no. 

The truth is the real market is local.  Have property values decreased?  Yes they have.  In the Jacksonville area we are luckier than other areas of the country and certainly other areas of the state.  We avoided the high end speculation that happened in South Florida and along the Gulf Coast.

Your home's value is based on several things.  What other similar homes in the area are selling for is critical to your home's value.  Are you in a community with alot of short sales and foreclosures?  Are you in a new community where the builder still has inventory?  You have to know what your competition is to know what the value of your home is.  Know this, your home will not be worth more next year than it is now.
